I watched the flag pass by one day. It fluttered in the breeze.

A young Marine saluted it, and then he stood at ease.   I looked at him in uniform; so young, so tall, so proud.  With hair cut square and eyes alert, he’d stand out in any crowd.

I thought how many men like him had fallen through the years. How many died on foreign soil; how many mothers’ tears?

How many pilots’ planes shot down? How many died at sea? How many foxholes were

soldiers’ graves? No, freedom isn’t free.  I heard the sound of Taps one night, when everything was still.

I listened to the bugler play and felt a sudden chill.  I wondered just how many times that Taps

had meant ‘Amen.’ when a flag had draped a coffin of a brother or a friend.

I thought of all the children, of the mothers and the wives, of fathers,

sons and husbands with interrupted lives.

I thought about a graveyard at the bottom of the sea.  Of unmarked graves in Arlington.

No, freedom isn’t free.

I think I have mentioned that I have family in the UK, right?  Well my cousin has several rental properties and was in need of landlord insurance after one of his tenants really tore his apartment apart.  It’s a shame what some people will do to something they are just renting.

He was telling me that he had never even thought about landlord insurance before that incident but after it, he went surfing the Internet and found really good rates and didn’t even realize they offered landlord insurance.  He was afraid that is would end up costing him a small fortune but luckily, his rental property is protected and so his he now.  I wonder if it’s offered here too?

I may be wrong, but this guy really looks like he needs a boating assist something awful.  I’m going to take a wild guess here and guess that this is the first time he has attempted to put his boat in the water.  What do you think?

How much deeper does he have to go, until his boat floats?  – Obviously, new to the water scene.
